Lions

Did you know that there are legal fisis (hyenas) out there? yess… you heard me right. I learnt this after visiting Lake Nakuru National Flamingo Park. Imagine being a male Impala, you have the right to have as many female Impalas as you can protect. While losers live a bachelor’s life waiting for the main guy to die. What! this feels like the benefactor/boyfriend story wololo!! 🙊🤭 The last time I checked I was doing the making of Mission in early December. See how time flies now we bidding goodbye to 2016!! hope you watched this silly clip I did for the random shoots blog. Did I promise you a blog about a road trip after the interview I did for Naija’s Finest 2Face Idibia? well this festive season, road trips have been the only thing on my to-do list!

My seniors at the office planned an awesome day out, not a kawaida (usual) day out but a road trip! road trip! the perfect environment for an end-year party/celebration. Riding through Limuru through the scary Mai Mahiu road to Naivasha.

THE ROAD TRIP

Naivasha erected beautiful memories from my last birthday trip. Imagine the beautiful feeling resurrecting from 12 months back. Sliding through fresh like it was yesterday oooh how I loved it. Amazing experience chanting and snapping all the way to Nakuru. Our one and only destination was Nakuru National Park. We took a breather kidogo as we took group photos. Freezing moments as a family. The team had a hearty breakfast.

Salute!!

Salute!!

Game Drive!!! who would not want to ride into the ever-praised park? With all the wild animals especially the rhinos that force people to literally do the mannequin challenge. For real, we had to turn off the bus just to let it cross the road at its own pace. Our families back home loved us, we wouldn’t want to scare the wide rhinos, charging them to attack us, like hello!! Patrick our tour guide, made sure we were all mute as we watched it cross to the other side. Reality checked in as his phone rang!! Teren! Teren! My heart was in my hands as the volume of his high pitch ringtone kept on increasing every second 😅😂. The rhino started running towards the bus ready to start a fight, picking each one of us with its horns encouraging the other rhinos across the road throwing us out, all this was in my head 😉 The irony is that the same guy making us do the mannequin challenge received his phone nicely calmly communicating with a fellow guide – he could be in danger you know, I thought but from the thread in their conversation they were actually excited to have spotted the rhinos that day.

The queen had to cross

Halfway she is...

Finally she gets on the greener side * wink*

DRAMA AT THE BABOON CLIFF/VIEWPOINT

Lake Nakuru is a receiving lake with no outlets just inlets 😉 This results in flooding increasing the circumference/surface area of the lake. Colleagues that have been there before said the entrance changed because the main entrance was flooded due to global warming,

Hey what happens if you receive and you do not give?

Hey, what happens if you receive and you do not give?

After the game drive, we took another drive uphill to baboon cliff as our tour guide called the viewpoint. The name Baboon is real, I kid you not the baboons call the shots at the cliff. We were instructed to lock every window as the level of aggressiveness by the baboons around is unbearable. We stopped over to just marvel at the awesome breathtaking view from the top.

The view!

The view!

As we go back on the bus, none of us remembered the place is governed by nothing but baboons. Weeee in a flash of 5 seconds one humongous baboon came from nowhere opened the window behind the driver picked up a bag full of snacks and left, gone in 60 seconds got nothing on it I tell you. That scary moment kept us driving back towards Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge for lunch.

THE MEAL

We had a five-course meal buffet ready to go down our throats all the way to the stomach. Drinks came in handy celebrating December babies, anniversaries, ruracios (dowry giving), graduations, weddings, and all other celebrations. At Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge lunch was well taken as we left to change into our swimming costumes ready to do them backstrokes 😉 *hides face* My swimming techniques are <1 you know.

Set up at the table.

Set up at the table.

We attacked the water with all the legal games played in the water, me being less of a swimmer I was going for the ball around the shallow end playing it safe. Formed different teams and played handball, guess what, our team lost, we had more non-swimmers like me guarding the goalpost. But why!!

One super man protecting us behind there ;-)

Fun and games

Fun and games

Swimming time was limited as we had to ride back to the capital city before darkness crept in. Ladies rushed to the ladies to clean up. While showering, I slipped and fell on the ground, for a second I thought I had lost my hand for good, Jeez! A good time was about to be ruined. It was just a minor injury phew!! The journey back home was more beautiful. Good times with good people must be on the record.

2016 was amazing and so good to me, I did not have major plans but all the years of my existence 23 have been the year I happen to archive almost every dream I had as a teenager. Giving birth to eayuma.com has been the greatest achievements of all time. All thanks to the people that believed in me, that one person that held my hand reminding me it’s possible to start a site with little to show. Getting a speaking role, learning to walk out of business and social relationships that brought nothing to the table, that failed to work without being emotionally attached, supporting local filmmakers, friends, and society, share appreciating those who loved and respected me for who I am and above all LEARNING. The things I learned at 23 are golden to me. If this is how 23 feels then I wouldn’t mind living it again…wait what? thinking of the struggles I had to endure, the sacrifices I made Adios 23 haha. You’ve been so good to me now it’s Onwards and Upwards. Looking forward to more in 2017.
