It is truly an honor to be crowned as the Pan-African Creative of the Year 🫶🏿🫰🏿🫶🏿 at the Pan-African Women Empowerment Summit and Awards #PAWES2024 that happened in Addis Ababa 🇪🇹

The summit convened a dynamic line-up of leaders and changemakers from over 32 countries to drive actionable collaborations to achieve the AU2063 Agenda.

This year’s theme was “How Gender Lens Investing Can Catalyze Total Socio-Economic Inclusion of Women towards Building the Africa We Want”
The diverse speakers curated a week of lifelong learning, collaboration, and celebration, affirming how every sector plays a crucial role in building the Africa we want.

I look forward to seeing how our work and the commitments we made continue to make a difference.

“Working together, tiny stars light the universe” ~ Lyn Howe

Recently embraced what the GenZ call #grandmaera or #grandmillennialstyle so I’ll use this opportunity to pay homage to my grandmothers.
I am a product of men and women scattered across the earth’s surface, my DNA has traces of #Andabwa, my paternal grandmother, who was widowed young with 2 girls and 3 boys, yet managed to raise the most present-loving man I am lucky to call Papa. On the other side, #Shisia, my maternal grandmother, had access to enough resources never to work a day in her life but chose to run her ventures. Today, over a century later, there is a concrete structure with her name on it back in the market of the Wangas,  inspiring my mother who embodies and instilled in us the importance of giving, serving, and the value of learning as you teach.

For decades I have been weaving my storytelling journey to learn and teach something new in equal measure. It is a great privilege to be recognized as the second runner-up in the Rising Star category at the 4th Annual Women on Boards Network Awards 2024.

This category was created to 🌟 Celebrate the Next Generation of Women Leaders, demonstrating exceptional potential through their passion and #innovation, contributing to advancing #genderinclusivity across their fields and communities, and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.🌟

I am grateful to The Women on Boards Network Kenya team led by visionary Chairperson #CatherineMusakali, for curating an evening that celebrated learning and leadership.

A special thanks to the #ChiefGuest, #ChiggaiHarriette for sharing Data-informed implementations, to #PurityNgina for the knowledge-sharing compass backed with numbers from the Keynote address, and to the #EmergingLeadersFoundation for championing young women leaders.
