Ever been on an educational trip and when it’s time to go back home all you want to do is cry? Well, that is the feeling I had after  #Creativenations.

Swedish Institute, Swedish Government in conjunction with the Kenyan Government arranged a 3-day amazing forum – Swedn@Kenya in partnership with 23 other art enthusiasts. You can check it online using the hashtag #CreativitySpeaks

Was honored to be part of the few Kenyans in attendance, this forum was my first Safari 😉 <Well been singing this song about going on safari every day I write I must before the year ends.> I must say this forum was a trip to Sweden from interacting with them. Having great Citizens like H.E Mr. Johan Borgstam, Ambassador of Sweden to Kenya, and Mr. Henrik Selin, Deputy Director-General, Swedish Institute, Sweden. Ms Elin Frenberg CEO Swedish Fashion Council, Sweden, just to name a few.

I just thought I should share this with you.  – Five things you should know about Sweden

  1. Large country few people – beautiful people you know.
  2. Nature for everyone – Imagine 97% of Sweden’s land area is uninhabited. 29 national parks and almost 4K nature reserves.
  3. Education for all – Between ages 6 to 19 education is free, where creativity and critical thinking are encouraged.
  4. Breeding ground for all – Sweden has long been associated with Ingmar Bergman (1918 – 2007) – Director/Scriptwriter extraordinaire. Check him out by the way.
  5. Remember to say, Tack! – But why not learn a word or two? hello!

Tack means Thank You

Day one

Day one

After the high-end fashion show on day one at the National Museums of Kenya. A two-day masterclass followed,  held at dusitD2 in Nairobi. 4 Studios were set up, and the interior deco took my breath away.

The colors!

The colors!

  1. Imagine my city – Conversations held about reprogramming the perceptions of public spaces.
  2. Fashion tech – The studio explored the meeting between fashion and tech.
  3. Telling our story – People shared success stories and challenges within the communication and media industry.
  4. Sustainable Lifestyle – highlighted emerging issues, policy issues, opportunities, and challenges for creatives to promote sustainable living.

I was in studio 3 where I closely interacted with content producers, amazing Kenyan and Swedish photographers, fellow actors, and other film enthusiasts.

End of day two: Barbecue at the residence of the ambassador, a perfect place to network ehh? All thanks to everyone in charge.

Beautiful places.

Beautiful places.

Day three checked in and presentations were underway, to wrap up this magnificent experience. Lesson: Learn, Unlearn, Relearn.

I must admit, this was a great idea that got the two countries to collaborate, the forum enhanced communality, which made us co-exist as we consult each other, consider one another express concern for one another, convince each other, confer with each other, and concede each other.

Without all this, the opposite would prevail. We would compromise, control, and command each other, end up confused followed by conflict between us.

Trust me this was a week that got me rewriting and rethinking my plans for eayuma.com. Wish me luck

Its a wrap!

It’s a wrap!

“Varsagod!” You’re welcome – with love.
