While America was deciding, Unilever was awarding. The journey began on a national holiday, Kings birthday in the Netherlands calendar. In Dutch it is well known to them as Koningsdag on this day they put up street markets, parties, concerts, and other special events.

I celebrated this year’s King’s Day with the team from Unilever Kenya, Sajeki, and other invited guests at the Ambassador’s Residence. There I was activating the new Blueband bread spread with omega 3 and 6 which is so important for kid’s growth and development. I would really love to tell you about the celebration but then again that is just for another day.

In May I was pleased to also activate the challenge at Karen C primary school together with team Unilever, team Sajeki, and the amazing team from Laugh industry, Churchill and Mc Jessy of the amazing Kids show Totos Kona.

Throughout the year kids have taken part in the good breakfast challenge and at the end of the competition, the best went home with amazing gifts. Unilever had school fees and school vans up for grabs. At the awarding ceremony at Unilever headquarters, David Rudisha, the main Brand Ambassador together with my friend Mary and I – who represented other brand ambassadors were on board to hand over the gifts.

This brought me to tears seeing kids get over 30K worth of school fees and schools over 100k for their own projects. I must admit being part of this journey pleases me. Seeing kids from all over 47 counties from Kenya schooled on the benefits of having a good breakfast brings joy to my heart. Building a healthy nation starts with you.
